Consulting
The publishing industry is daunting. I can help you navigate it.

For some of us, writing is the easy part. But after the manuscript is written, it can be challenging to know which sections of your writing need fine-tuning – especially when you are so attached to your hard work. It can also be difficult to navigate the publishing industry: Do I need an agent? How do I submit a manuscript? Who should I submit to? Is my work even ready to be submitted? I can help you not only develop your writing to ensure it is ready for publication, but also provide guidance and advice on how to prepare a manuscript proposal, how to approach publishers, and which publishers might be the best fit for your work.

FAQ

What is the role of a book publisher?

A book publisher is responsible for the editorial development of a manuscript, its production and printing, as well as the marketing, promotion, sales, and fulfillment of the book.

How do I get my book published?

Generally speaking, there are two routes you can take to have your book published: you can pitch it to a book publisher directly; or you can pitch it to a book agent, who will then target relevant book publishers with which they have a relationship. Another option for publication is to self-publish your book. This often involves taking your completed manuscript to a company that will print the book (and often provide assistance in its layout and design), while you are responsible for its editorial development, marketing, sales, and fulfillment

How much does it cost to get my book published?

If your book is accepted for publication from a book publisher, there is no cost to you, outside of your time in the editorial development and revision of the manuscript. If you choose to self-publish, you are responsible for all costs associated with the design, printing, marketing, and sales of your book, which can vary from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.
